Announcing the Stage two process.

(The Dispersal sale)

Terraweena Dorper and White Dorper Studs Dispersal

Part One.  Tender Process

loftus_brazil-pic.jpgThank you to all those that submitted tenders in the Part One of Terraweena's dispersal.

The first step of the dispersal proved very successful with around 80 ewes being sold averaging slightly over $1700 and achieving two new Australian Highest Priced Records (Ram and Ewe).  'Terraweena Loftus' selling for $45,000 and 'Terraweena 8224' (Current National Champion Ewe) selling for $7,000. Both purchased by a Brazilian buyer.

We would like to congratulate all successful tenderers and offer our appreciation to all those whom tendered unsuccessfully.  Your support was greatly appreciated and the level of interest proved to be an enormous endorsement of the demand for good quality sheep. Thank you.

With Part One completed we would now like to announce the the Part Two Process and include the addition of a Part Three Process in accordance with the feedback received by interested parties.

Terraweena Dorper and

White Dorper Studs

It is with great sadness that we announce the full dispersal of Terraweena Dorper and White Dorper Studs.
Changing personal circumstances and health concerns over recent years have given us no alternative but to come to this decision.  The only comfort we are able to glean in submitting these animals to the market place, is that other breeders will have the opportunity to develop these wonderful genetics that we were so fortunate to acquire from our friends in South Africa.  We would like to acknowledge the input and generosity of Kobus and Gert Lotter and Stephanus Malan who contributed such fine genetics for us to access.
We also acquired bloodlines from Piet Cillier through our association with the Amani Stud.  Although this stud has also been dispersed within Australia, some of the top genetics have been retained and bred on, notably through Terraweena Loftus.
We, the Burnett-Smith family, have thoroughly enjoyed our affiliation with the breed and value every relationship we have built with fellow breeders and industry colleagues.
Although we will be leaving the industry as stud breeders ourselves, we very much hope that we will be able to maintain friendships and contact with both the breed and the breeders.  The time Terraweena has spent in the Dorper and White Dorper world has been one of the most pleasurable and rewarding periods of our lives.

Rather than succumb to the sadness we feel in having to make this harsh decision, we would prefer to concentrate to the considerable milestone we have reached and the genuine reality that we are offering these animals to the market place at a time when the quality of our animals is at their peak.

Terraweena has secured the ‘Most Successful White Dorper Exhibitor’ at the National Show three years in a row and is the current holder of the prestigious title.  However we feel that the Terraweena bloodline has not yet made its biggest contribution to the Dorper and White Dorper industry worldwide.  Thanks to a highly successful embryo transplant program in 2011, Terraweena has on the ground the finest drop of lambs the stud has ever produced!  This group of lambs is genetically intact as not one of them have yet been sold.

It was our greatest dream to submit these outstanding animals to the market place in an effort to lift the bar, yet again on what this country has previously considered to be elite genetics.

As  circumstances have unfolded, the task and honour of securing and presenting these animals will be in the hands of the various successful tenderers and/or purchasers at the auction sale should that be the manner in which the dispersal evolves.

We wish all those who choose to tender  for this legitimate ‘once in a life time opportunity’ the best of luck in their bid.  Please contact us for any information throughout the tender process.
