In 2006, Terraweena Stud amalgamated with the famous Amani Boer Goat Stud from Western Australia in a joint venture between Australian Breeding Services (ABS) and Namibian Breeding Services (NBS) whose principals are Dirk Louw, Willie Coetzee, Oubaas Steenkamp and Ronnie Coleman.

The intention of the joint venture, through the purchase of the Amani stud and its amalgamation with ABS, is to establish and provide an outlet for a standard of genetics unparalleled, world wide.

The Amani Stud was transported the entire width of Australia (some 3,500 kilometres) from Foggy Bottom Farm in Chidlow, Western Australia to Terraweena, its new home in Toowoomba, Queensland, where they joined forces with the Terraweena animals.

Once settled, the attributes of the Amani herd quickly became evident.  Their extraordinary length, meat coverage and style as well as the overall uniformity of the flock, heralds exciting prospects at Terraweena.

The Amani stud, based largely on the genetics of Dirk Louw, provided the perfect addition to the tried and tested Terraweena lines.  The intention is to run three separate lines, pure Amani, pure Terraweena and a cross between the two, carefully selected to enhance the qualities of each stud.

Dirk Louw genetics have already made their stamp, world wide.  Names such as ‘Lancelot’ and ‘Atlantis’ in
Australia and ‘Freight Train’ in America, are already highly regarded and synonymous with quality.

With the addition of these sought after blood lines and the invaluable input of Dirk Louw, Willie Coetzee, Oubaas Steenkamp and Ronnie Coleman, we look forward to further developing this remarkable genetic line and making it more accessible, world wide.
